Translation:

Zhè shì Mike hé Serena, tāmen hé wǒmen yìqǐ qù páshān.
Lana: 这   是 Mike 和 Serena,他们   和   我们   一起去   爬山。

This is Mike and Serena, and they would like to go hiking in the mountains with us.

Hǎo a, nǐmen hǎo. Lana, nǐ de péngyǒu kě zhēn duō a.
Lucy: 好啊,你们    好。Lana,你的 朋友      可   真     多啊。

Great! Nice to meet you. Lana, you have so many friends.

Analysis:

In Chinese, nouns do not have a plural form. The singular and plural forms of a noun are the same, for example, “一本书 (yì běn shū) a book” and “五个学生 (wǔ ge xuéshēng) five students.” However, you can add “们 (mén)” after the nouns for people to make the plural form, for example, “学生们 (xuéshēng men) students” and “老师们 (lǎoshī men) teachers.”

But in the above sentence, “们 (mén)” cannot be used after the noun “朋友” to show plurality because the words “真多” can show the meaning of plural. For example, you must say “我有三个姐姐 (wǒ yǒu sān ge jiějiě) I have three sisters” or “我的姐妹很多 (wǒ de jiěmèi hěn duō) I have many sisters” but not “我有三个姐姐们 (wǒ yǒu sān ge jiějiěmen)” or “我的姐妹们很多 (wǒ de jiěmèimen hěn duō)” because “三个” and “很多” can show the meaning of plural.

Examples:

Xiàkè língshēng yì xiǎng, háizimen jiù chōngchūle jiàoshì.
下课    铃声         一 响,   孩子们  就    冲出了        教室。

The kids ran out of the classroom when the bell rang.

Nǚháirmen dōu xǐhuan chuān piàoliang de yīfu.
女孩儿们     都     喜欢     穿       漂亮    的衣服。

All girls like wearing beautiful clothes.

Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.

Greetings from Colorado! I’m bored to death at work so I decided to browse your site on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the information you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how fast your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, great site!

Speak Mandarin: You can add “们” after the noun representing people to make the plural form
