Chinese Wedding Anniversaries-金婚(jīnhūn)

The phrase “金婚(jīnhūn)” has become more popular ever since the release of the TV series (learn Chinese through movies and TV programs) “金婚(jīnhūn)” in 2006. As the title suggests, it is a story about an ordinary couple’s fifty-year marriage from 1956 to the new century.”金婚(jīnhūn)” refers to a fifty-year marriage. Chinese use different phrases to refer to different wedding anniversaries. Below is a list of the Chinese phrases for wedding anniversaries:

纸婚(zhĭhūn) Paper wedding (the first wedding anniversary)

木婚(mùhūn) Wood wedding (the fifth wedding anniversary)

锡婚(xīhūn) Tin wedding (the tenth wedding anniversary)

水晶婚(shuĭjīng hūn) Crystal wedding (the fifteenth wedding anniversary)

搪瓷婚(tángcí hūn) China wedding (the twentieth wedding anniversary)

银婚(yínhūn) Silver wedding (the twenty-fifth wedding anniversary)

珍珠婚(zhēnzhū hūn) Pearl wedding (the thirtieth wedding anniversary)

珊瑚婚(shānhú hūn) Coral wedding (the thirty-fifth wedding anniversary)

红宝石婚(hóng băoshí hūn) Ruby wedding (the fortieth wedding anniversary)

蓝宝石婚(lán băoshí hūn) Sapphire wedding (the forty-fifth wedding anniversary)

金婚(jīnhūn) Golden wedding (the fiftieth wedding anniversary)

翠玉婚(cuìyù hūn) Emerald wedding (the fifty-fifth wedding anniversary)

钻石婚(zuànshí hūn) Diamond wedding (the sixtieth wedding anniversary)
