Chinese Nursery Rhyme: 妈妈您歇歇吧 (Māma nín xiēxie ba) Have A Rest, My Dear Mom

“Have a rest my dear mom” is a well-known nursery rhyme in China. Children can sing it to their mothers on “母亲节 (Mǔqīnjié)Mother’s Day” as a way to give thanks to their mothers for working so hard to take care of them.

Māma māma nín xiēxie ba,
妈妈     妈妈    您  歇歇 吧,

Zìji   de shìr  wǒ huì zuò le.
自己的事儿我  会   做 了。

I can take care of myself.
Zìji   chuān yīfu ya,   zìji chuān xié wà,
自己  穿   衣服呀,自己 穿    鞋 袜,

I can dress myself, and put on my socks and shoes,
Zìji   dié bèiziya,    zìji  shū tóufa.
自己叠 被子呀,自己梳头发。

I can fold the quilt, I can comb my hair.
Māma nín xiēxie ba,  nín kuài xiēxie ba,   qīn’ài de hǎo māma.
妈妈     您  歇歇  吧,您  快   歇歇  吧,亲爱 的   好   妈妈。

Have a rest, dear mommy, please have a rest.

妈妈      让    女儿 把  这些   衣服叠 起来。

The mother let her daughter fold the clothes.
梳 (shū) v. to comb

Example:

Tā shūzhe gāogāo de mǎwěibiàn, bǐ yǐqián piàoliang le.
她   梳着      高高   的   马尾辫,  比 以前   漂亮      了。

She puts her hair in a high ponytail and then looks even more beautiful than she did.
