乌龟     跑    白兔   跳,

The tortoise ran. The hare jumped.
chángcháng lù bǐsài pǎo.
长长             路 比赛   跑。

They were having a long distance race.
Xiǎo tùzi hěn jiāoào,
小   兔子 很     骄傲,

The hare was very proud of his speed,
bàn lùshang shuìzháo le.
半    路上        睡着      了。

and he slept midway through.
Xiǎo wūguī bùtíng pǎo,
小     乌龟   不停     跑,

But the tortoise kept running without stopping,
dào hòulái jìng xiāndào.
到    后来    竟    先到。

till he was the first to reach the finish line.
Xiǎo wūguī hāhā xiào,
小     乌龟    哈哈  笑,

In the end, the tortoise laughed happily,
xiǎo báitù xiū sǐle.
小    白兔  羞  死了。

and the hare felt very ashamed.
