  1. When is “bu” read with the second tone and when is it read with the fourth tone? Is this explained in any of your basic Chinese lessons?

  2. It is in the fourth tone when the syllable after “bu” is in the first, the second or the third tone; and it is in the forth tone when the syllable after “bu” is in the fourth tone.
    For example, 不难 (bù nán) and 不累 (bú lèi).
