Have you heard the term “late-night poisoning”? It’s like this:
Imagine it’s the middle of the night and you get home after a hard day of work. The phrase “深夜放毒 (shēn yè fàng dú)”, or, “late-night poisoning” refers to when you should be sleeping but are kept awake by someone’s message or post of something you’d want (usually something food-related). In other words, they’ve poisoned your sleep!
1. Breaking down the expression “深夜放毒(shēn yè fàng dú)”
Let’s take a moment to look at the component parts of the whole expression, namely “深夜（shēn yè）” and “放毒（fàng dú）”.
