For Android, a mobile operating system developed by Google, the year of 2010 has been explosive. The global "销售(xiāoshòu) sales" of Apple's iPhone have been overtaken by the multitude of phones using Google's Android system in the second quarter. The Android system has become the third most popular operating system of "智能手机(zhìnéng shǒujī) smart mobile phones."
Android is getting popular in China now and is also easier for Chinese people to use. Compared with iPhone, the open platform of Android is more in accord with the "消费(xiāofèi) consuming" habits in China. iPhone users can only "下载(xiàzǎi) download" applications through the Apple Store, but it is more difficult for Chinese people to use the iPhone because they are more sensitive to pricing and do not often use international credit cards. However, Android has provided more ways for Chinese people to download applications and "软件(ruǎnjiàn) software" through Android's Market Place, which is open to all developers. Considering how vital access to applications is to users of smart mobile phones around the world, it is no wonder that Android is now gaining ground in China as well as in the rest of the world.

Can I use 销售 as a verb?
I have had an online business Chinese course since last year. 销售 is usually used as noun. You can use 卖 or 出售as verbs. 出售 is more formal than 卖. But what about “buy” or “purchase”?
