If you love me, please spend more time with me.

Rúguǒ nǐmen ài wǒ, jiù duōduō de qīnqin wǒ.
如果     你们  爱 我,就 多多      地 亲亲    我。

 

If you love me, please kiss me more.

Rúguǒ nǐmen ài wǒ, jiù duōduō de kuākua wǒ.

Wǒ què zǒngshì bù míngbai, ài shì shénme.
我    却   总是      不  明白,   爱 是  什么。

 

But I never really know what love is.

Bàba zǒngshì duì wǒ shuō, bàba māma zuì ài wǒ.
爸爸   总是      对  我  说,   爸爸  妈妈    最 爱 我。

Grammar point

In Chinese some monosyllabic verbs can be overlapped forming double syllable verbs that express the same meaning. Usually the double syllabic verbs are used in spoken Chinese, such as the three words below.

1. 亲亲(qīnqin): v. kiss

Lucy, qīnqin māma!
Lucy, 亲亲    妈妈!

 

Lucy, kiss your Mom!

2. 夸夸(kuākua): v. praise

Jīntiān wǒ yào kuākua Lǐ Míng.
今天     我 要   夸夸     李 明。

 

Today, I will praise Li Ming.

3. 抱抱(bàobao): v. hug

Wǒ xiǎng bàobao nà gè xiǎo bǎobao.
我   想      抱抱      那 个  小    宝宝。

 

I want to hug the little baby.
