Answer to How Are Mandarin Students Reacting to the WannaCry Virus in China?

May. 18, 2017

Answer: C

Answer analysis:
The Chinese name given to the WannaCry virus is a literal translation of the function that its creators intended. 勒索 (lèsuǒ) means “blackmail” or “extort” and 病毒 (bìngdú) means “virus” and can be used for both digital viruses and also a virus of the living body. Put them together and we get 勒索病毒 (lèsuǒ bìngdú). It’s as simple as that!
