  1. I got a question with this online Chinese lesson. Is “apple” translated as “苹果?” And, how do you say “pear” and “grape” in Chinese?

  2. “本” is used as a measure word especially to describe numbers of books or pamphlets. “个” is used with proper nouns or nouns without specific measure words. For example: 王力买了十本书(Wǎng Lì mǎi le shí běn shū.) “Wang Li bought 10 books.” “三个孩子 (sāngèháizi) three children,” “五个月 (wǔgèyuè) five months,” “一个笑脸 (yígèxiàoliǎn) a smiling face” and so on.
