The Legend
The festival celebrates the love story of Niulang (牛郎,the Cowherd) and Zhinü (织女,the Weaver Girl). Separated by the Milky Way, they can only meet once a year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. On this night, magpies form a bridge across the sky so the lovers can reunite.
