(Yì kē kāihuā de shù)A Tree in Blossom

by 席慕容 (Xí Mùróng)Xi Murong

Rúhé ràng nĭ yùjiàn wŏ
How do I let you meet me,
Zài wŏ zuì mĕilì de shíkè
At my most beautiful moment.
Wèi zhè
为    这
For this,
Wŏ yĭ zài fó qián qiú le wŭ băi nián
I beseeched the Buddha for five hundred years,
Qiú fó ràng wŏmen jié yí duàn chényuán
I beseeched Him to let us meet in earthly life.
Fó yúshì bă wŏ huà zuò yì kē shù
Buddha let me become a tree,
Zhăng zài nĭ  bì jīng de lùpáng
Growing on the roadside that you pass by every day.

Yángguāng xià
Under the sunlight,
Shènzhòng de kāi măn le huā
I carefully bloomed with flowers all over,
Duŏduŏ dōu shì wŏ qiánshì de pànwàng
Every bloom is my longing from a previous life.
Dāngnĭ zŏujìn
When you come near,
Qĭngnĭ xìtīng
Please listen carefully,
Nà chàndŏu de yè
Those shivering leaves,
Shì wŏ dĕngdài de rèqíng
Are the passion of my waiting.
Ér dāngnĭ zhōngyú wúshì de zŏuguò
And when you finally passed by unawares,
Zài nĭ shēnhòu luò le yí dì de
Those that fell off and covered the ground,
Péngyou ā
Ah, Friend,
Nà búshì huābàn
Those are not flower petals,
Nà shì wŏ diāolíng de xīn
