Chinese Name
A Chinese name consists of two parts: the surname precedes the given name. In W谩ng D脿k臎, for example, W谩ng is his surname whereas D脿k臎 the given name. One-character surnames account for a great percentage of the total. Only a small number of surnames are formed by two characters, such as 艒uy谩ng or S墨m菐. There is a common choice between one character and two for one鈥檚 given name with the exception of a few such names containing three or more characters.
